About Us
The success of the Sound Collective is due to the many and varied fabulous singers. However to keep the wheels turning, steer the ship and provide the stage on which they can shine, here is the lowdown on the BACKSTAGE TEAM.
Emma Harmony - Founder, Director & Chief Magic Maker
Company owner, conductor, music arranger, events manager, professional singer, vocal coach, competition judge, administrator, facilitator, the one who has the ideas, the one who keeps the plates spinning and the one whose role is to provide the spotlight in which you can shine.
You would think that’d keep her out of trouble but we’re not so sure!

Emma started The Sound Collective in 2007 having left her city job and finding there wasn’t a group locally she wanted to sing in herself so started one! TSC was born. Since then it has gone on to be the hugely respected umbrella company for a number of ventures all focused around singing and events.
Despite her own performing background Emma found she was drawn to creating opportunities where ordinary people could come together and be extraordinary, believing they were already but just needed permission to step into the light and shine. She is a creative, approachable, witty and engaging leader who will build your confidence in no time and have you singing better than you ever thought you could.
Her straight-talking, positive and modern approach to singing has seen her emerge as a sought after vocal coach for team building events and workshops and as a judge for national singing and songwriting competitions.
Her creative flair, originality, tenacity and entrepreneurism has seen her take the traditional choir concert into a new realm in which singers are set within an immersive event experience not heard of with other choirs.

In all her projects she is most proud to offer a place where you can belong, develop and escape and where the singing is taken seriously but not ourselves. Emma is based in the UK and sees her primary role as the creator of spaces where people come together, shine, sing and create special moments.
If you are looking for an inclusive safe space to take your singing to another level, where you’ll find your confidence grows, friendships will form and magical memories are made then you have found it with Emma and TSC!
The Sound Collective Backstage Team
Abbey
As Assistant Choir Director, when Emma drops a plate, Abbey picks it up and keeps everything on the straight and narrow encouraging singers and supporting from the sidelines.
Originally a Soprano in The Sound Collective Chorus, it quickly became apparent how others looked to Abbey as a mentor so when the choir reached the size to need a 2nd in command she was an obvious choice!
Since 2009 she has stood side by side with Emma on many projects for the choir often taking on a technical advisory role and overseeing the work of the sound engineers and lighting technicians to ensure smooth running of shows.
Although not as regularly present in choir rehearsals as she once was, Abbey is kept up to date and steps in when required to run longer sessions or section specialist rehearsals to achieve that final finish and polish.

A calm educator with a natural instinct for getting the best out of singers, her role is to co-teach sessions when needed and help to develop the choir.
Behind the scenes she is an important support to Emma, a great soundboard and confidante.
Being one step removed, on hearing new ideas presented by Emma, she is in the perfect position to say (with authority) “YES our choir will be brilliant & love that“ or “NO Emma, this time that’s a crazy idea!”… And she’s always right!
Abbey was also a professional singer with Emma in the group Resonate.
Sarah
Bubbly, beloved and a bringer of happiness, Sarah is our Social Media and Content Executive and also a 2nd Soprano with the choir.
As the voice of adventure on our social channels, Sarah’s role is to produce content that gives our choir members the sense of belonging in our brand and to put messages out to the public community that follow us.
Sarah’s style of communication is uplifting, fun and positive and behind every post is the genuine belief that… (in her own words) ”there’s something magical about singing with TSC and being part of something bigger than yourself. I love seeing the joy and confidence it brings and it really is life changing”.
Before taking a singing break on having her twins, Sarah had been involved with choirs and operatic societies for many years. Music and singing had always been very important to her so as soon as her twins started school she looked for a choir to rejoin. Having plenty of prior experience, Sarah wanted a choir which would deliver the best in terms of quality, good vibes, great times & impressive singing. She found The Sound Collective and hasn’t looked back since!
“Being part of TSC is truly something special. I love the friendships I’ve made, the music, the harmonies and the opportunities for us to do extraordinary things when we are together.
It’s a special kind of buzz and has become a big part of my life. It’s definitely more than just singing!
I love that I’m also part of the backstage team to help spread the word on The Sound Collective and share the brilliant things we do!”
Chris
In the role of Events Coordinator Chris helps facilitate bringing concepts off the page and making them reality. He brings great ideas, experience, patience, approachability and a CAN DO attitude.
A singer in The Sound Collective Chorus himself, Chris offered to join the team when in lockdown 2020 he observed the importance of the choir community beyond the weekly rehearsals.

He recognised the need for us to boost our spirits and feel a continued sense of togetherness and was the driving force behind the social online additional choir community sessions which he co hosts with Emma.
With a hands on approach and a drive for getting the job done, Emma can continue to have big ideas for the choir and Chris will work hard to make them reality.
